On 12 August 1949 was at the humanitarian catastrophe the Second World War, the Geneva Convention extended to protect in case of war the civilian population and soldiers.

are the main points:
  • care of wounded and sick soldiers, regardless of their origin
  • rescue duty of shipwrecked sailors
  • regime for the treatment of prisoners of war
  • protection of civilians, citizens of an enemy State
  • prevent attacks against the civilians
