The Foreign Minister of Hungary (Gyula Horn) and Austria (Alois Mock) by symbolically cut on 27 June 1989 piece by the Hungarian border fortification.
This is also borne out internationally, which was started several months ago from Hungary: the removal of border fortifications to capitalist states and the path to an economically and politically pluralistic system. was with this act but also a sign to many East Germans set: the border between Hungary and Austria was ripped open and thus a gap in the direction of the Federal Republic of Germany. Many summer visitors from the GDR did not result in more return home, but emigrate to West Germany via Austria.
